Privacy at Blvdle

This notice describes how the current Blvdle game uses information. For privacy questions or requests, email legal@engenuo.com.

Playing the game

Blvdle currently has no accounts, purchases, or live advertisements. Advertising is not enabled. City searches, guesses, distance calculations, and scoring run in your browser. The application does not send your search text or guess history to a gameplay server, and does not request your device’s location.

Your city search text and full guess history stay in your browser. With your permission, Blvdle sends limited gameplay summaries to PostHog as described below. Blvdle does not send your city searches or game progress to advertisers.

Information saved in your browser

Blvdle uses local storage to remember Daily attempts, completion and retired rounds by scheduled date, separate Unlimited progress and previously played cities, each mode’s map position and shared preferences, distance units, interface size, and theme. These settings apply to this browser and site address.

These records have no automatic expiration set by the game. They remain until replaced, cleared, or removed by your browser. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes saved progress and preferences. If browser storage is blocked, you can play, but progress may not survive refreshing or closing the page.

Optional analytics and error reports

Both are off until you allow them. You can accept or decline both, or choose them separately. The game works with both off. Use Privacy settings in the game footer to change your choice at any time.

Analytics (PostHog): if enabled, we send page visits, mode changes, the first accepted attempt in a round, round completion (attempt count and whether you found the exact city, nearby area, same state, or elsewhere), and clicks on Share result. A randomly generated browser identifier in local storage helps count returning browsers, with session identifiers and basic browser, operating-system, and device-type information. These are pseudonymous records, not a count of identified people. We send the referring website’s domain when available, but strip URL paths from referrers and query strings from the page address.

Error reports (Sentry): if enabled, we send unhandled browser errors with error type and the locations in Blvdle’s JavaScript where they occurred. We remove error messages, page request details, user data, and interaction breadcrumbs before sending. We limit these reports to 20 per page visit. Caught failures or visual problems may not produce a report.

Neither integration sends search text, guessed city names, clue content, the answer city, or clipboard content. Session recording, automatic click tracking, and performance tracing are disabled. The services necessarily receive connection information, including your IP address, when your browser contacts them. Analytics geolocation enrichment is disabled in the application. We use the providers’ U.S. ingestion endpoints. See PostHog’s privacy notice and Sentry’s privacy notice for their handling of information.

We remember your consent choice in local storage for up to 180 days, then ask again. Withdrawing stops further optional collection and removes active PostHog identifiers from browser storage. It does not erase records already received by the providers. Provider retention depends on our project settings and subscription; contact legal@engenuo.com for retention or deletion requests. Clearing this site’s data also removes the browser consent choice.

Hosting and connection information

Google Cloud Run serves the website and static catalogues. Requests to the site expose connection information to the hosting service, such as IP address, browser information, the requested URL, and request time. Cloud Run automatically generates request logs. Hosting logs are separate from the progress saved in your browser and are not removed by clearing browser storage.

Panoramic imagery from Mapillary

When a panorama appears at clue two or after a round ends, your browser connects directly to Mapillary/Meta and its image-delivery services. Those services receive the requested imagery identifier and connection information needed to respond. The images do not pass through a Blvdle application backend.

Third-party handling of those requests is covered by the provider’s practices. See Mapillary’s privacy information. The absence of accounts or advertisements in Blvdle does not mean that external services receive no information.

Sharing a result

Copy result writes the displayed result to your clipboard only when you choose that action. Blvdle does not read your clipboard or automatically publish your score to social networks. If you paste a result into another service, that service’s own policies apply.

Your choices and requests

You can change the theme, text size, distance units, and map settings in the game. You can also remove saved game data through your browser’s site-data settings. Please do not send passwords, identification documents, or other sensitive information in an initial message.

Future changes

This notice will be updated when data practices change. If advertising, accounts, or other new data uses are introduced, their disclosures and any required consent controls will be reviewed before activation. This page is a notice about current practices, not a request to accept tracking.
